I  am doing Chimacum creek because I feel like people need to know the water they are polluting. When they throw their trash by the bank in the water. What I see in Chimacum creek is some trash but it is pretty healthy. We see bugs that are sensitive to water pollution so that’s one sign that Chimacum creek is healthy.

Watershed is water going to the lowest points of the place. What makes that happen gravity. Gravity pulls the water down to the lows point to form a creeks, rivers and lakes. Little parts of a creek that flows into the creek make up of sum of that water. It all come from the mountains.

Everything we use like sinks, laundry and the stuff we put into our dumps the all run of and fall into our creeks, rivers and lakes to pollute them.

Surface runoff  is water from rain, snowmelt, or other sources, that flows over the land surface. runoff that occurs on surface, before reaching a channel is also called overland flow. A land area which produces runoff draining to a common point is called a watershed.

The main problem caused by water pollution is that it kills life that depends on these waterbodies. Dead fish, crabs, birds and seagulls, dolphins, and many other animals often wind up on beaches, killed by pollutants in their habitat living environment. Pollution disrupts the natural food chain as well.

Here are the things we need to have a better world and water like are drinking water and rivers, lakes, creeks and oceans we need to do these things Reduce, Replace, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Refuse and Reject, Rethink  the R’s and we will have a better world.

Rs

Reduce

Reducing the amount of waste you produce is the best way to help the environment.

Replace

To substitute a thing that is broken or inefficient or lost or no longer working for another. To put in the place of another and switch seemingly equivalent items that can be interchanged.

Reuse

Use things that you can reuse like instead of paper towels use a cloth towels or plastic bottles use a metal bottle.

Recycle

Many of the things we use every day, like paper bags, soda cans, and milk cartons, are made out of materials that can be recycled.

Refuse and Reject

Refuse disposable plastics Disposable plastics are the greatest source of plastic. Reject the things that you don’t really need

Rethink

It is up to us to really start thinking about what we buy, why we buy it and how we dispose it.

Recover

After collection, the residual waste is disposed of either through landfill or incineration, the recyclables are remanufactured and or energy is recovered if energy is recovered from waste it is classed as recovery rather than disposal.
